If you would like your desktop Icons to have no text underneath then try this tweak:
1. Right click the icon and select "Rename"
2. Now hold the "Alt" key and type "255" and hit Enter
NOTE : It may only work with the keypad numbers and not the number keys on top of the keyboard.

Reason why this work is that Windows recognizes 254 characters ( inclusive of your ABC's) while DOS ( Programming language of Windows ) recognizes 255 characters. If you use the 255th character of DOS in the Window's interface, Windows could not recognize it therefore displaying it as a blank
